10 Things which take a Muslim out of Islam – out of Islamic Faith – Nullify his or her Islam – such as Shirk, thing1- Shirk – Associating Partners with Allah /2- Ascribing intermediaries to Allah/ 3- Not regarding the mushrikeen as kuffaar (disbelievers) / 4- Believing that the guidance of someone other than the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is more perfect than his guidance, etc
5- Hating something that was brought by the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)
6- Ridiculing any aspect of the religion of the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)
7- Sihr (magic or witchcraft) – Whoever does that or approves of it is a disbeliever
8- Supporting the mushrikeen and helping them against the Muslims.
9- Believing that it is permissible for some people to go beyond the bounds of sharee‘ah (and follow a religion other than Islam) / 10- Turning away from the religion of Allah, and not learning it or acting in accordance with it

Mongols and Mamlucks

Starting in the 1240s, the Mongols made repeated invasions of Syria or attempts thereof. Most failed, but they did have some success in 1260 and 1300, capturing Aleppo and Damascus and destroying the Ayyubid dynasty. The Mongols were forced to retreat within months each time by other forces in the area, primarily the Egyptian Mamluks. Since 1260, it had been described as the Mamluk-Ilkhanid War. Mongol envoys to Egypt In 1260, Hulagu sent envoys to Sultan Qutuz in Cairo, demanding his surrender: From the King of Kings of the East and West, the Great Khan. To Qutuz the Mamluk, who fled to escape our swords. You should think of what happened to other countries and submit to us. You have heard how we have conquered a vast empire and have purified the earth of the disorders that tainted it. We have conquered vast areas, massacring all the people. You cannot escape from the terror of our armies. Where can you flee? What road will you use to escape us? Our horses are swift, our arrows sharp, our swords like thunderbolts, our hearts as hard as the mountains, our soldiers as numerous as the sand. Fortresses will not detain us, nor armies stop us. Your prayers to God will not avail against us. We are not moved by tears nor touched by lamentations. Only those who beg our protection will be safe. Hasten your reply before the fire of war is kindled. Resist and you will suffer the most terrible catastrophes. We will shatter your mosques and reveal the weakness of your God and then will kill your children and your old men together. At present you are the only enemy against whom we have to march.[4] Qutuz responded, however, by killing the envoys and displaying their heads on Bab Zuweila, one of the gates of Cairo.[3] •

Allah the Almighty said: “Those whom they call upon (like Jesus- son of Mary, Ezra, angels, etc.) desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord (Allah) as to which of them should be nearest and they (Jesus, Ezra, angels etc.) hope for His Mercy and fear His Torment. Verily; the Torment of Your Lord is something to be afraid of” (17:57) And He said: “And (remember) when Abraham (May Allah be pleased with him) said to his father and his people: ‘Verily, I am innocent of what you worship. Except Him (i.e. I worship none but Allah Alone), Who did create me and verily, He will guide me.’ And he made it (i.e. La ilaha illa-Allah) a Word lasting among his offspring that they may turn back (i.e. to repent to Allah or receive admonition).” (43:26-28) Allah the Almighty said: “They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah.” (9:31) He said: “And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allah as rivals (to Allah). They love them as they love Allah but those who believe love Allah more (than anything else.).” (2: 165)
