Zayd ibn Amr bin Nufayl – Belief in Allah prior to Wahi/ Revelation

(And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (Allah ordered him to do or convey)) (53:37) -meaning, he was truthful and he was obedient to Allah’s legislation. Also, Allah said,

إِنَّ إِبْرَهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةً قَـنِتًا لِلَّهِ حَنِيفًا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ – شَاكِراً لانْعُمِهِ اجْتَبَـهُ وَهَدَاهُ إِلَى صِرَطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ – وَءاتَيْنَـهُ فِى الْدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَإِنَّهُ فِى الاٌّخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّـلِحِينَ – ثُمَّ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ أَنِ اتَّبِعْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَهِيمَ حَنِيفًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

(Verily, Ibrahim was an Ummah (or a nation), obedient to Allah, Hanif (i.e. to worship none but Allah), and he was not one of those who were Al-Mushrikin (polytheists), (He was) thankful for His (Allah’s) favors. He (Allah) chose him and guided him to a straight path. And We gave him good in this world, and in the Hereafter he shall be of the righteous. Then, We have sent the revelation to you (O Muhammad saying): “Follow the religion of Ibrahim Hanif (Islamic Monotheism ـ to worship none but Allah) and he was not of the Mushrikin.) (16:120-123)

قُلْ إِنَّنِى هَدَانِى رَبِّى إِلَى صِرَطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ دِينًا قِيَمًا مِّلَّةَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

(Say (O Muhammad ): “Truly, my Lord has guided me to a straight path, a right religion, the religion of Ibrahim, Hanifan, and Ibrahim (to worship none but Allah, alone) and he was not of Al-Mushrikin.”/ not of Idolaters) (6:161) and,

مَا كَانَ إِبْرَهِيمُ يَهُودِيًّا وَلاَ نَصْرَانِيًّا وَلَكِن كَانَ حَنِيفًا مُّسْلِمًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ – إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَـذَا النَّبِىُّ وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَاللَّهُ وَلِىُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

(Ibrahim was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim Hanifan (Islamic Monotheism ـ to worship none but Allah alone) and he was not of Al-Mushrikin. Verily, among mankind who have the best claim to Ibrahim are those who followed him, and this Prophet (Muhammad ) and those who have believed (Muslims). And Allah is the Wali (Protector and Helper) of the believers) (3:67-68).

Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl (died 605) was a monotheist and poet who lived in Mecca shortly before Islam.

The Promise of Paradise: The Prophet ﷺ said of Zaid: “He will be raised on the Day of Resurrection as a single nation [or like a nation], between me and ‘Isa (Jesus).”

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (ﷺ) met Zaid bin ‘Amr bin Nufail in the bottom of (the valley of) Baldah before any Divine Inspiration came to the Prophet (ﷺ). A meal was presented to the Prophet (ﷺ) but he refused to eat from it. (Then it was presented to Zaid) who said, “I do not eat anything which you slaughter in the name of your stone idols. I eat none but those things on which Allah’s Name has been mentioned at the time of slaughtering.”

Zaid bin ‘Amr used to criticize the way Quraysh used to slaughter their animals, and used to say, “Allah has created the sheep and He has sent the water for it from the sky, and He has grown the grass for it from the earth; yet you slaughter it in other than the Name of Allah. He used to say so, for he rejected that practice and considered it as something abominable.” [319]

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه):

Zaid bin ‘Amr bin Nufail (رضي الله عنه) went to Shaam, inquiring about a true religion to follow. He met a Jewish religious scholar and asked him about their religion. He said, “I intend to embrace your religion, so tell me something about it.” The Jew said, “You will not embrace our religion unless you receive your share of Allah’s Anger.” Zaid (رضي الله عنه) said, “I do not run except from Allah’s Anger, and I will never bear a bit of it if I have the power to avoid it. Can you tell me of some other religion?” He said, “I do not know any other religion except the Haneef.” Zaid enquired, “What is Haneef?” He said, “Haneef is the religion of the Prophet) Ibraheem (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) who was neither a Jew nor a Christian, and he used to worship none but Allah (Alone)”

Then Zaid went out and met a Christian religious scholar and told him the same as before. The Christian said, “You will not embrace our religion unless you get a share of Allah’s Curse.” Zaid replied, “I do not run except from Allah’s Curse, and I will never bear any of Allah’s Curse and His Anger if I have the power to avoid them. Will you tell me of some other religion?” He replied, “I do not know any other religion except Haneef.”

Zaid enquired, “What is Haneef?” He replied, “Haneef is the religion of the Prophet) Ibraheem who was neither a Jew nor a Christian and he used to worship none but Allah (Alone)” When Zaid heard their Statement about the religion of) Ibraheem, he left that place, and when he came out, he raised both his hands and said, “O Allah! I make you my Witness that I am on the religion of Abraham.” [321]

Narrated Asma bint Abi Bakr (رضى الله عنها): “I saw Zaid bin ‘Amr bin Nufail (رضي الله عنه) standing with his back against the Ka’bah and saying, “O people of Quraysh! By Allah, none amongst you is on the religion of Abraham [322] except me.” He used to preserve the lives of little girls- If somebody wanted to kill his daughter he would say to him, “Do not kill her for I will feed her on your behalf.”

So he would take her, and when she grew up nicely, he would say to her father, “Now if you want her, I will give her to you, and if you wish, I will feed her on your behalf.” [323]

Family

He was the son of Amr ibn Nufayl, a member of the Adi clan of the Quraysh tribe.[1]: 296  Zayd’s mother had previously been married to his grandfather, Nufayl ibn Abduluzza, so her son from this marriage, al-Khattab ibn Nufayl, was at the same time Zayd’s maternal half-brother and paternal half-uncle.[2]: 101 

Zayd married Fatima bint Baaja from the Khuza’a tribe, and their son was Sa’id ibn Zayd.[1]: 296  A subsequent wife, Umm Kurz Safiya bint al-Hadrami, bore his daughter Atiqa.[3]: 186

Abandonment of idols

According to the Islamic historians Ibn Ishaq and Ibn Sa’d, Zayd became disillusioned with the traditional religion of Arabia, for the stone that the people worshipped “could neither hear nor see nor hurt nor help”[2]: 99  and “the worship of stone or hewn wood is nothing.”[1]: 296  He pledged with three friends that they would seek the true religion of Abraham, which they called al-Hanafiya. The other three men eventually converted to Christianity.[2]: 99  Another of his friends was Abdul-Muttalib.[4]

Zayd travelled to Syria to question both Jews and Christians about their beliefs, but he was not happy with the answers of either group. According to later Muslim historians, he had “the religion of Abraham, following the natural form” and “worshipped Allah alone with no partner.”[1]: 296 [5] Amir ibn Rabi’a, an ally of al-Khattab, later said that Zayd had told him that he believed in the future coming of a prophet.[1]: 296, 302 

Monotheistic beliefs

Three points of Zayd’s religious beliefs are mentioned in traditional Islamic sources. First, he did not worship idols and he rebuked the Quraysh for doing so.[2]: 99  Asma bint Abi Bakr heard him declaring outside the Kaaba: “O Quraysh, none of you is following Abraham’s religion except me.“[2]: 99, 100 [1]: 297  He composed this poem:

Am I to worship one lord or a thousand?
If there are as many as you claim,
I renounce al-Lat and al-Uzza, both of them,
as any strong-minded person would.
I will not worship al-Uzza and her two daughters …
I will not worship Hubal, though he was our lord
in the days when I had little sense.[2]: 100 

Second, he modified his diet. He did not eat carrion, blood or anything that had been slaughtered for an idol.[2]: 99  He told the Quraysh: “Allah has created the sheep and he has sent the rain and the grass for it; yet you don’t mention Allah’s name when you slaughter it.”[6]

Third, he opposed infanticide. He rescued infant girls who were about to be buried alive and brought them up in his own house. When the girls had grown older, he would offer their fathers a choice between taking their daughters back or leaving them to be supported at Zayd’s expense.[1]: 297–298 

Journeys and Death

Finding it impossible to stay in Makkah, he left the Hijaaz and went as far as Mosul in the north of Iraq and from there southwest into Syria. Throughout his journeys, he always questioned monks and rabbis about the religion of Ibrahim. He found no satisfaction until he came upon a monk in Syria who told him that the religion he was seeking did not exist any longer but the time was now near when God would send forth, from his own people whom he had left, a Prophet who would revive the religion of Ibrahim. The monk advised him that should he see this Prophet he should have no hesitation in recognizing and following him.

Zayd retraced his steps and headed for Makkah intending to meet the expected Prophet. As he was passing through the territory of Lakhm on the southern border of Syria he was attacked by a group of nomad Arabs and killed before he could arrive at Meccah. According to Islamic sources, before he died, he raised his eyes to the heavens and said:

O Lord, if You have prevented me from attaining this good, do not prevent my son from doing so.

His son Sa’id bin Zayd was one of the first converts to Islam, and amongst the special group of 10 people that were promised Jannah in a famous hadith.

Waraka ibn Nawfal is said to have composed an elegy for him:

You were altogether on the right path, Ibn Amr;
You have escaped Hell’s burning oven
by serving the one and only God
and abandoning vain idols …
for the mercy of God reaches men
though they be seventy valleys deep below the earth.[2]: 103

The 25 Prophets Mentioned in the Quran Kareem

Alayhis Salam (Peace be upon them):

Surah Baqarah 136 – Say, ˹O believers,˺ “We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; and what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.”

“We have sent you with the Truth as a bearer of good news and warning– every community has been sent a warner.” (Qur’an 35:24) (News of Paradise for the Believers and HellFire for the Disbelievers);

All prophets in Islam came with the message of Tawhid (Oneness of God – wroshipping God Alone). It was only a difference in the Shariah (commandments and laws) of each Divine religion that set it apart from the others. It should be noted that all prophets propagated the same message of Islam throughout all ages, Tawhid, which is the core of all Divine religions. Allah Almighty mentions in the Qur’an:

وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَسُولًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ

“We sent a messenger to every community, saying, ‘Worship God and shun false gods.’”(Qur’an 16:36)

“We have sent revelation to you [Prophet] as We did to Noah and the prophets after him, to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon- to David We gave the book [of Psalms]- to other messengers We have already mentioned to you, and also to some We have not. To Moses God spoke directly.” (Qur’an 4:163-164)

Allah Almighty also says in surah Fatir, ayah 24

Why Quran is the Word of God – Last Revelation on Monotheism

The Word Bible – comes from the Greek Word “Biblos”

biblos (βίβλος) means “book,” “scroll,” or specifically the inner bark of the papyrus plant used to make writing materials. Derived from the Phoenician city of Byblos (a major papyrus exporter), it is the root for words like “bible,” “bibliography,” and “bibliophile; it is basically a Collection of Manuscripts written by Scholars/ Scribes- mostly from Greek and Latin Texts – while most of the Prophets spoke Hebrew and Aramaic

A (Church) History of Burning the Bible Manuscripts

Based on the historical evidence, the claim that Constantine burned scriptures or ordered the destruction of “non-canonical” books is false; this action was carried out by his predecessor, Diocletian, during the “Great Persecution” (303–313 AD). Wikipedia

Here is the breakdown of the historical facts regarding Constantine and the scriptures:

  • Diocletian, Not Constantine, Burned Scriptures: The Emperor Diocletian launched a massive effort in 303 AD to destroy Christian sacred texts and burn churches.
  • Constantine Ordered Copies, Not Destruction: Upon converting, Constantine actually financed the production of new copies of the Scriptures. He tasked Eusebius of Caesarea with producing 50 copies of the Bible for the churches in Constantinople to replace those destroyed in the earlier persecution.
  • No Role in Canonization: Constantine did not select the books of the Bible at the Council of Nicaea (325 AD). The canon was largely established by the church before his reign and finalized by later councils in the late 4th century. ( and here again church authorities decided which Testaments to include or Not to include in the recognized version of the Bible);
  • Other accounts, letters, and revelations—e.g., the Didachē (Teaching of the Twelve Apostles), Gospel of Peter, First Letter of Clement, Letter of Barnabas, Apocalypse (Revelation) of Peter, Shepherd of Hermas—exist, but through a complex process the canon was fixed for both the Eastern and Western churches in the 4th century. The canon contained four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), Acts, 21 letters, and one book of a strictly revelatory character, Revelation. These were not necessarily the oldest writings, not all equally revelatory, and not all directed to the church at large.   • Targeted “Heretical” Writings: While he did not burn the New Testament, Constantine did order the destruction of books written by heretical groups, such as the Arians, to force religious conformity, but this was a separate, targeted action
  • Arianism, during the time of Emperor Constantine (early 4th century), was a Christological doctrine proposing that Jesus Christ was created by God the Father and was therefore not co-eternal or of the same substance as God. It was proposed by Arius, a presbyter from Alexandria, and became a major theological controversy that threatened the unity of the Roman Empire, prompting Constantine to convene the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD (it meant basically that God/ “Father” is the Creator – and Jesus was Created by God and a Prophet – not of the same substance as God (means no “trinity”/ church introduced idolatry; majority of Christians/ believers at the time Did not believe in “trinity” – but were thereatened by death under Constantine and the church if they publicly decleared God is One (no partners and no son- pure monotheism)- God is One with No Partners)
  • Roman Empire (303 AD): The first major destruction of Christian books occurred under Emperor Diocletian, who ordered the burning of Christian scriptures to try and destroy the faith itself.
  • Other Incidents: In 1731, Archbishop Leopold Anton von Firmian ordered the burning of Protestant Bibles in Salzburg. In 1849, 3,000 copies of a Catholic Italian translation were burned in Florence because they were considered Protestant-influenced.
  • Nazi Germany (1933): In a non-Church context, 70 tonnes of Watch Tower literature and Bibles were burned in Nazi Germany. Wikipedia

Bible – a Collection of Books/ Manuscripts

The New Testament has over 5,800 Greek manuscripts, 10,000 Latin, and 9,300 in other languages, totaling over 25,000, dating from c. 125 to the 15th century. Old Testament Hebrew manuscripts are fewer, with the Dead Sea Scrolls significantly increasing that count to include copies of every book except Esther.  (Wikipedia) -None of which perfectly agree with each other;

So Yes – there are Stories/ Concepts Narrated – but we cannot confirm 100 percent the events because the testaments differ with each other – other than God being one entity who created everything in the Heavens and the earth and nothing happens except by Divine Will – and there will be a death, life in the grave, Ressurection Paradise or Hellfire – as a common theme among all these writings; but specific events or word there is no Original text from God’s Books – such as the Torah of Moses, David’s Psalms, the Gospel of Jesus – which only explains why Quran Kareem was sent to clarify the right version of past events and bring people back to monotheism;

NIV – Version Information

The New International Version (NIV) is a completely original translation of the Bible developed by more than one hundred scholars working from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. (None the Original Torah of Moses, David’s Psalms, Jesus Gospel)

The initial vision for the project was provided by a single individual – an engineer working with General Electric in Seattle by the name of Howard Long. Long was a lifelong devotee of the King James Version, but when he shared it with his friends he was distressed to find that it just didn’t connect. Long saw the need for a translation that captured the truths he loved in the language that his contemporaries spoke.

For 10 years, Long and a growing group of like-minded supporters drove this idea. The passion of one man became the passion of a church, and ultimately the passion of a whole group of denominations. And finally, in 1965, after several years of preparatory study, a trans-denominational and international group of scholars met in Palos Heights, Illinois, and agreed to begin work on the project – determining to not simply adapt an existing English version of the Bible but to start from scratch with the best available manuscripts in the original languages. Their conclusion was endorsed by a large number of church leaders who met in Chicago in 1966.

As proved in the previous paragraphs, all the testaments have been changed, and many testaments in Hebrew and Aramaic have been burnt by the church as well – all the Original prophetic testaments have been changed – therefore Allah/ God AllMighty revealed the Qur’an Kareem (Noble Quran/ Recitation) from Angel Garbriel to Prophet Muhammad to bring humanity back to Monotheism until the Day of Ressurection with no changes;

Islam is a continuation of the message received by previous prophets, such as Noah, Abraham, David, Moses and Jesus, peace be upon them all. Therefore, the Quran maintains the pure teachings of previous revelations, including the Torah and the Gospel. The Quran describes that all the prophets taught people to believe in the One God, the Creator. The messengers also instructed them to spend their lives with God-consciousness, doing good deeds and avoiding sins. Moreover, they warned their fellow humans of accountability in the afterlife, a subject which the Quran returns to again and again.

Since its revelation, the Quran (also spelled ‘Koran’) has remained preserved in its exact, primary text. While numerous translations of the Quran exist, they are all based on the single, original Arabic script, making the Quran unique from previous scriptures in its pure authenticity.

Quran’s Message

The distinctive approach of the Quran is that its spiritual message includes practical injunctions aimed at the general welfare of individuals, society and the environment in which we live.

The Quran’s message is eternal and universal, transcending our differences in race, color, ethnicity and nationality. It provides guidance on every facet of human life – from economics and the ethics of trade to marriage, divorce, parenting, gender issues and inheritance.

Say, ˹O believers,˺ “We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; and what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.”

Monotheism is a prominent theme of the Quran, affirming that God is One without any partners. In a concisely-worded Quranic chapter, God commands, “Say, ‘He is God the One, God the eternal. He begot no one nor was He begotten. No one is comparable to Him’” (112:1-4).

Prayer in Bible and Quran

Jesus fell on his face in prayer: “He went a little farther and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, ‘O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me…’”

Abraham: “Abram fell facedown, and God said to him…”

How Prophets Prayed – Qur’an Verses

Jesus (‘Isa عليه السلام): it confirms he worshiped God alone and called people to submit to God, as all prophets did: “Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the straight path.”

— Qur’an 3:51 – Mary (Maryam), the mother of Jesus: “O Mary! Be devoutly obedient to your Lord, prostrate and bow with those who bow.”

— Qur’an 3:43 -Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: “And fall prostrate and draw near to Allah.”

— Qur’an 96:19 -All believers are commanded: “O you who believe! Bow down, prostrate yourselves, and worship your Lord, and do good so that you may succeed.” — Qur’an 22:77

Say, ˹O believers,˺ “We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; and what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.”

Surah Al Hadid – In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

1. Glorifying God is everything in the heavens and the earth. He is the Almighty, the Wise. 2. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death, and He has power over all things. 3. He is the First and the Last, and the Outer and the Inner, and He has knowledge of all things.

4. It is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then settled over the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth, and what comes out of it, and what descends from the sky, and what ascends to it. And He is with you wherever you may be. God is Seeing of everything you do.

5. To Him belongs the kingship of the heavens and the earth, and to God all matters are referred.

6. He merges the night into the day, and He merges the day into the night; and He knows what the hearts contains. 7. Believe in God and His Messenger, and spend from what He made you inherit. Those among you who believe and give will have a great reward.

8. What is the matter with you that you do not believe in God, when the Messenger calls you to believe in your Lord, and He has received a pledge from you, if you are believers?

Jesus was not Crucidied: Quran Kareem

Since there was a lot of confusion when the Roman soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Barnabas says that it was Judas who actually looked like Jesus; Allah does not specify who was put on the cross – but it does say Jesus was not put on cross – he was Saved due to his prayer in Getsemani garden – and he was raised alive by the angels to the Heavens; and he will return to kill the Dajjal/Antichrist; in fact the Hypocrite Rabbis of the Jews wanted to kill jesus because he told them they would go to Hell – KJ21

Bibles has many textas not 1 original version so it is not fully reliable unlike Quran Kareem (1 Original Arabic revelation by God through Angel Gabriel to Prophet Muhammad- saw);

Surah An Nisaa’ – the Women

154. And We raised the Mount above them in accordance with their covenant, and We said to them, “Enter the gate humbly”, and We said to them, “Do not violate the Sabbath”, and We received from them a solemn pledge.

155. But for their violation of their covenant, and their denial of God’s revelations, and their killing of the prophets unjustly, and their saying, “Our minds are closed.” In fact, God has sealed them for their disbelief, so they do not believe, except for a few.

156. And for their faithlessness, and their saying against Mary a monstrous slander.

157. And for their saying, “We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of God.” In fact, they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they did. Indeed, those who differ about him are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it, except the following of assumptions. Certainly, they did not kill him.

158. Rather, God raised him up to Himself. God is Mighty and Wise.

159. There is none from the People of the Scripture but will believe in him before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness against them.

The Image of Gold and the Blazing Furnace

3 King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide,[a] and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. 2 He then summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up. 3 So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials assembled for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it.

4 Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do: 5 As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. 6 Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”

7 Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp and all kinds of music, all the nations and peoples of every language fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

13 Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, 14 and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? 15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”

16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us[c] from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual 20 and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. 21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. 22 The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, 23 and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.

24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?”

They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.”

25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!”

So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, 27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.

28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. 29 Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.”

30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

66. He said, “Do you worship, instead of God, what can neither benefit you in anything, nor harm you? 67. Fie on you, and on what you worship instead of God. Do you not understand?”

68. They said, “Burn him and support your gods, if you are going to act.” 69. We said, “O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham.”

70. They planned to harm him, but We made them the worst losers.

71. And We delivered him, and Lot, to the land that We blessed for all people. 72. And We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift; and each We made righteous.

73. And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We inspired them to do good works, and to observe the prayer, and to give out charity. They were devoted servants to Us.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one; and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise.” To count something means to know it by heart. (sahih Al Bukhari 7392; Book 97 Hadith 21;

99 Names of Allah (Al Asma Ul Husna)

The first pillar of īmān (faith) in Islam is Belief in Allah. As Muslims, we believe in Allah according to His beautiful Names and Attributes, which have been revealed in the Noble Qur’an and authentic Sunnah. Allah has mentioned His Names repeatedly throughout the Qur’an to help us know Him, understand His perfection, and draw closer to Him through worship and supplication.

Learning and reflecting upon the Names of Allah (Al-Asmā’ al-Ḥusnā – The Most Beautiful Names) is among the most noble acts of worship. There is nothing more sacred and blessed than knowing our Creator and living by the guidance these Names provide.

How can we truly worship, love, fear, hope in, and place our trust in Allah if we do not know Him through His Names and Attributes?

Allah says in the Qur’an:

“Allah has the Most Beautiful Names. So call upon Him by them, and keep away from those who abuse His Names. They will be punished for what they used to do.” (Quran 7:180)

“Allah – there is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. He has the Most Beautiful Names.” (Quran 20:8)

“He is Allah: the Creator, the Inventor, the Shaper. He ˹alone˺ has the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth ˹constantly˺ glorifies Him. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.” (Quran 59:24)

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Indeed, Allah has ninety-nine Names, one hundred less one, whoever encompasses them (iḥṣā’ahā) will enter Paradise.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 2736)

“Verily, there are ninety-nine Names of Allah; whoever preserves them (aḥṣāhā) will enter Paradise. Allah is Witr (One/Odd) and loves what is odd.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2677a)

Why Jesus is Not the “son” of God but Slave/Servant of God

Numbers 23 – Balak asked him, “What did the Lord say?” 18 Then he spoke his message:

“Arise, Balak, and listen;
    hear me, son of Zippor.
19 God is not human, that he should lie,
    not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
    Does he promise and not fulfill?
20 I have received a command to bless;
    he has blessed, and I cannot change it.

The term “Son of God” in Hebrew and Aramaic reflects a range of meanings from “divine being” or “angel” in early texts to “messiah” or “righteous person” in later periods. The phrase is often linked to the concept of a servant (ebed) in some, particularly non-traditional, analyses.

  • Bera (ברא): Used in Aramaic as a word for “son,” often with connotations of being part of a larger entity (like a castle formed from sand, to use an analogy).
  • Bar Elaha (בר-אלהא): A form used for “Son of God” in Aramaic dialects, particularly in later traditions, signifying a high spiritual standing.
  • Bar Nasha (בַּר נָשָׁא): While commonly translated as “Son of Man,” this phrase appears frequently in Aramaic, referring to a human being, with strong messianic connotations in the Gospels. 

3. Ebed (עֶבֶד – Servant/Slave of God)

  • Definition: Ebed is a Hebrew word meaning “servant,” “slave,” or “subject”.
  • Context: In some analysis of the New Testament’s Greek, the word pais (child/son) may be a translation of the Hebrew ebed (servant).
  • “Servant of God” (Ebed Yahweh/Elohim): The phrase often used for prophets or the Messiah (e.g., Isaiah 42:1), emphasizing a servant relationship rather than a direct sonship.

  • Relationship to “Son”: The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament suggests that when Jesus is called “servant of God” in early traditions (e.g., Acts 3:13, 3:26), it reflects this “servant” (ebed) connotation rather than “son” (ben).

Allah has no Partner or Associate

Allah declares Himself to be above having any child or partner in dominion, control and worship. He says:

مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنْ إِلَـهٍ إِذاً لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَـهٍ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلاَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ

(No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him. (If there had been many gods), then each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have tried to overcome others.) meaning, if it were decreed that there should be a plurality of deities, each of them would have exclusive control over whatever he had created, so there would never be any order in the universe. But what we see is that the universe is ordered and cohesive, with the upper and lower realms connected to one another in the most perfect fashion.

مَّا تَرَى فِى خَلْقِ الرَّحْمَـنِ مِن تَفَـوُتٍ

(you can see no fault in the creation of the Most Gracious) 65:3. Moreover, if there were a number of gods, each of them would try to subdue the other with enmity, and one would prevail over the other. This has been mentioned by the scholars of `Ilm-ul-Kalam, who discussed it using the evidence of mutual resistance or counteraction. This idea states that if there were two or more creators, one would want to make a body move while the other would want to keep it immobile, and if neither of them could achieve what they wanted, then both would be incapable, but the One Whose existence is essential i.e., Allah cannot be incapable. It is impossible for the will of both to be fulfilled because of the conflict. This dilemma only arises when a plurality of gods is suggested, so it is impossible for there to be such a plurality, because if the will of one is fulfilled and not the other, the one who prevails will be the one whose existence is essential (i.e., God) and the one who is prevailed over will be merely possible (i.e., he is not divine), because it is not befitting for the one to be defeated whose existence is essential. Allah says:

وَلَعَلاَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ سُبْحَـنَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

(and some would have tried to overcome others! Glorified be Allah above all that they attribute to Him!) meaning, high above all that the stubborn wrongdoers say when they claim that He has a son or partner.

عَـلِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَـدَةِ

(All-Knower of the unseen and the seen!) means, He knows what is hidden from His creatures and what they see.

فَتَعَـلَى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

(Exalted be He over all that they associate as partners to Him!) means, sanctified and glorified and exalted be He above all that the wrongdoers and liars say.

Surah An Nisaa/ Women:170. O people! The Messenger has come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe—that is best for you. But if you disbelieve, to God belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. God is Omniscient and Wise.

171. O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion, and do not say about God except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, is the Messenger of God, and His Word that He conveyed to Mary, and a Spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers, and do not say, “Three.” Refrain—it is better for you. God is only one God. Glory be to Him—that He should have a son. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and the earth, and God is a sufficient Protector.

172. The Messiah does not disdain to be a servant of God, nor do the favored angels. Whoever disdains His worship, and is too arrogant—He will round them up to Himself altogether.

Jesus and The Table Spread -Surah Maidah

114. Jesus son of Mary said, “O God, our Lord, send down for us a table from heaven, to be a festival for us, for the first of us, and the last of us, and a sign from You; and provide for us; You are the Best of providers.”

115. God said, “I will send it down to you. But whoever among you disbelieves thereafter, I will punish him with a punishment the like of which I never punish any other being.”

Denying worshipping other than Allah/God:

116. And God will say, “O Jesus son of Mary, did you say to the people, `Take me and my mother as gods rather than God?’“ He will say, “Glory be to You! It is not for me to say what I have no right to. Had I said it, You would have known it. You know what is in my soul, and I do not know what is in Your soul. You are the Knower of the hidden.

117. I only told them what You commanded me: that you shall worship God, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them while I was among them; but when You took me to Yourself, You became the Watcher over them—You are Witness over everything.

118. If You punish them, they are Your servants; but if You forgive them, You are the Mighty and Wise.”

119. God will say, “This is a Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness.” They will have Gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will remain forever. God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. That is the great attainment.

120. To God belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and what lies in them, and He has power over everything.

The Ten Commandments – Exodus 20

20 And God spoke all these words: 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

Now in Quran we do not believe God punishes kids for parents sins or vice-versa; but some of the Bible Verses were changed from the original – Bible comes from the Word Biblos in Greek – and it literally means Book – it is Collection of Books/ Writings- not the literal Word of God – because they do not have a complete original Revelation unlike Quran Kareem);

The Greatest Commandment – Matthew 22:34-40

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Note: Jesus taught to worship God Alone (it was only later around 325 CE – Coucil of Nicea – a Few Hundred years after Jesus where they made the “trinity” the concept of the “son” or God a State religion and changed many of the texts available in Hewbrew and Aramaic); Jesus and the Prophets were upon Monotheism not the “trinity”;

The Lord’s Prayer (Traditional Version)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name;

thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Here the word Father/ Abba means Creator of All; so Jesus was teaching to worship the Father/ God Alone – and make his name Hollowed – Glorified – and the rest if Obvious.

Key aspects of the opening line

“Our Father”: Highlights a relationship with God as a loving, personal parent, and emphasizes a community of faith (“Our”) rather than just “My” relationship.

“who art in heaven”: Acknowledges God’s transcendence and holiness, separating Him from earthly limitations, while still being present.

“hallowed be thy Name”: Calls for reverence and respect for God’s sacred name.

MONOTHEISM IN QURAN KAREEM:

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ ٥٦ مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍۢ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ ٥٧

Surah Adh-Dhariat – surah 51:56-57 I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me. I seek no provision from them, nor do I need them to feed Me.

Monotheism in Islam, known as Tawhid, is the core principle asserting God (Allah) is indivisibly One, without partners or equals, demanding worship of Him alone and rejecting polytheism (shirk) as the gravest sin. It’s a strict, pure monotheism emphasizing God’s incomparability, uniqueness, and sovereignty, described through His beautiful names, with no intermediaries, forming the foundation of the Islamic faith and worldview. 

Key Aspects of Tawhid/ Monotheism:

Absolute Oneness (Wahdaniyyah): Allah is one and unique; He has no partners, children, spouses, or divisions within His essence. 

Rejection of Shirk: Attributing divinity or partners to God (polytheism, idolatry) is the unforgivable sin in Islam. 

No Intermediaries: Muslims worship Allah directly, without clergy or intermediaries, fostering a personal relationship with God. 

Description by Attributes: God is known through His attributes (like Ar-Rahmān – The Entirely Merciful, Ar-Rahīm – The Especially Merciful) and His “99 Names,” not through physical forms or icons. 

Creator & Sustainer: Allah is the sole creator and sustainer of the universe, which operates under His unified command.

Surah Nisa’/ Women ayah 48: Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating others with Him ˹in worship˺,1 but forgives anything else of whoever He wills. And whoever associates others with Allah has indeed committed a grave sin.

48. God does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives anything less than that to whomever He wills. Whoever associates anything with God has devised a monstrous sin.

49. Have you not considered those who claim purity for themselves? Rather, God purifies whom He wills, and they will not be wronged a whit. 50. See how they devise lies against God. That alone is an outright sin.

51. Have you not considered those who were given a share of the Book? They believe in superstition and evil powers, and say of those who disbelieve, “These are better guided on the way than the believers.” 52. Those are they whom God has cursed. Whomever God curses, you will find no savior for him.

53. Or do they own a share of the kingdom? Then they would not give people a speck. 54. Or do they envy the people for what God has given them of His grace? We have given the family of Abraham the Book and wisdom, and We have given them a great kingdom.

Jesus in Quran Kareem – monotheism Verses/ Ayaat:

Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:72): “The Messiah, son of Mary, said, ‘O Children of Israel, worship Allah—my Lord and your Lord.’ Whoever associates others with Allah in worship will surely be forbidden Paradise by Allah. Their home will be the Fire, and the wrongdoers will have no helpers”.

Surah Maryam (19:36): “And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the Straight Path”.

Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:117): Jesus denies ever telling people to worship him or his mother as gods, stating, “I never told them anything except what You ordered me to say: ‘Worship Allah—my Lord and your Lord!’

SURAH MAIDAH / The Table Spread:

Verses emphasize belief in God Alone and Not taking Jesus as a Partner to God (Idolatry);

16. God guides with it whoever follows His approval to the ways of peace, and He brings them out of darkness into light, by His permission, and He guides them in a straight path.

17. They disbelieve those who say, “God is the Christ, the son of Mary.” Say, “Who can prevent God, if He willed, from annihilating the Christ son of Mary, and his mother, and everyone on earth?” To God belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and what is between them. He creates whatever He wills, and God has power over everything.

18. The Jews and the Christians say, “We are the children of God, and His beloved.” Say, “Why then does He punish you for your sins?” In fact, you are humans from among those He created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what lies between them, and to Him is the return.

19. O People of the Book! Our Messenger has come to you, making things clear to you—after a cessation of messengers—so that you cannot say, “No preacher has come to us, and no warner.” In fact, a preacher has come to you, and a warner; and God is Capable of everything.

ISLAMIC MONOTHEISM AND ITS REQUIREMENTS:

 The Prophet (ﷺ) said:“Eman (Faith) means that you believe in Allah, in His Angels, in His Books, in His Messengers, in the Day of Judgment and in the Divine Decree (Qadr) in its good and evil.”[Sahih Muslim 8a]

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said to Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal as he was sending him to Yemen: “You will come to a people of the Scripture. When you reach them, invite them to testify that none is worthy of worship except Allah (God AllMighty) and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. If they obey you in that, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them five prayers every day and night. If they obey you in that, tell them that Allah has enjoined Zakah(charity) on them, to be taken from the rich amongst them and given to the poor amongst them. If they obey you in that, beware of taking their best properties; and fear the invocation of an oppressed person, for there is no barrier between his invocation and Allah.”

When the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) sent Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) to Yemen to call its people to Allah and teach them, he clarified to him that he would meet Christian people and that he should first call them to what is more important and then to what is less important, and so on. He should first call them to reform their creed by testifying that none is worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. This is because they enter Islam with this testimony. If they complied with that, he should then enjoin them to establish the prayer, for it is the most important obligation after the testimony of Tawhīd (monotheistic belief). If they established the prayer, he should then order the rich amongst them to pay Zakah on their property to the poor amongst them. Thereafter, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) warned him not to take their best property; instead, it is required to adopt a moderate approach in this regard. Then, he (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to avoid oppression, lest an oppressed person might supplicate to Allah against him, as his supplication is readily answered.  

 Benefits from the Hadith

  1. The testimony that none is worthy of worship except Allah means that we should devote worship to Allah Almighty alone and shun the worship of all other things. 
  2. The testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah means to have faith in him and what he came with, to believe in him, and to believe that he is the last Messenger sent by Allah to all humankind. 
  3. Speaking to a knowledgeable person or someone with certain Misconceptions differs from speaking to an ignorant one. Hence, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) alerted Mu‘ādh with his words: “You will come to a people of the Scripture.” 
  4. It is important for a Muslim to have proper knowledge of his religion to get rid of the misconceptions of those who raise them. 
  5. It demonstrates the invalidity of the religion of the Jews and the Christians after the mission of Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and that they are not among the people who will attain salvation on the Day of Judgment unless they enter the religion of Islam and believe in the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him).

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, none from this nation of Jews and Christians hears of me, and then dies without having faith in my message, but that he will be an inhabitant of Hellfire.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 153
