Divine Covenant Love

ʼAhavah most often reveals the gracious initiative of the LORD toward His people. Moses reminds Israel that “it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath He swore to your fathers” that He redeemed them from Egypt (Deuteronomy 7:8). The prophets echo this theme after centuries of rebellion: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving devotion” (Jeremiah 31:3). Hosea dramatizes the same covenant love when the LORD commands the prophet to “love a woman beloved of her companion yet an adulteress, just as the LORD loves the children of Israel” (Hosea 3:1). ʼAhavah, then, discloses divine faithfulness that neither Israel’s sin nor exile can finally annul.

Human Love for God

Though the verb “to love” dominates calls to love God, the noun also portrays genuine devotion flowing back to Him. Ezra records that out of God’s “steadfast love” (Ezra 7:28) the writer found courage to reform worship. The mutuality of covenant emerges: God loves His people, and they love Him by obedience (Deuteronomy 10:12-13) and worship (Psalm 116:1, where the noun underlies the personal declaration, “I love the LORD”).

Marriage and Romantic Affection

The first occurrence of ʼahavah concerns Jacob’s seven years of labor for Rachel: they “seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her” (Genesis 29:20). Song of Solomon elevates marital love to poetic celebration: “Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away” (Song of Solomon 8:7). While the book honors physical delight, it frames it within covenant commitment, foreshadowing the New Testament union of Christ and His church (Ephesians 5:25-32).

Family and Kinship

Proper family affection enriches daily life: “Better a dish of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox with hatred” (Proverbs 15:17). Parental love motivates discipline (Proverbs 13:24) and undergirds generational blessing (1 Kings 3:3 records Solomon’s early love for the LORD learned from David).

Friendship and Loyal Commitment

David’s lament for Jonathan employs ʼahavah to describe covenant friendship: “Your love to me was more wonderful than the love of women” (2 Samuel 1:26). Such passages portray self-giving camaraderie that strengthens leaders, preserves kingdoms, and models Christ’s own statement, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).

Who are the Believers and the Formation of the Embryo – Surah Al Muminoon/ The Believers

SURAH AL MUMINOON – In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

1. Successful are the believers. 2. Those who are humble in their prayers. 3. Those who avoid nonsense. 4. Those who work for charity. 5. Those who safeguard their chastity. 6. Except from their spouses, or their dependents—for they are free from blame. 7. But whoever seeks anything beyond that—these are the transgressors. 8. Those who are faithful to their trusts and pledges.

9. Those who safeguard their prayers. 10. These are the inheritors. 11. Who will inherit Paradise, wherein they will dwell forever.

12. We created man from an extract of clay. 13. Then We made him a seed, in a secure repository. 14. Then We developed the seed into a clot. Then We developed the clot into a lump. Then We developed the lump into bones. Then We clothed the bones with flesh. Then We produced it into another creature. Most Blessed is God, the Best of Creators.

15. Then, after that, you will die. 16. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be resurrected.

Creation in Darkness and He cast over them His Light

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah Almighty created His creation in darkness and He cast over them His light. Whoever is touched by that light is guided, and whoever misses it is led astray. Thus, I say the pens have been dried upon the knowledge of Allah.”

THE WRITING OF THE PEN (FATE/ DESTINY/ DIVINE DECREE) & CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE

‘Ubadah ibn al-Samit reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the first to be created by Allah was the pen. Allah told it to write, so it wrote all that will exist until forever.” Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3319; Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani

The Pen is also mentioned in the Qur’an, in the 68th chapter, Al-Qalam. This chapter describes God’s justice and the day of judgment.

The hadeeth of Abdullaah Ibn `Amr Ibn Al-`Aas which is ascribed to Allaah’s Messenger (salallaahu `alahi wassallam): ‘Allaah wrote the decree of all of creation 50,000 years before the creation of the heavens and the earth. And His Throne was over the water.’

(4) يُدَبِّرُ الْأَمْرَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ مِمَّا تَعُدُّونَ ﴿۵﴾He directs the affair from heaven to earth. Then it will ascend to Him in one day, a day whose value is a thousand years by your reckoning. (5)

This beautiful illustration highlights the miraculous stages of human creation as described in the Qur’an over 1,400 years ago — long before the advent of modern embryology. Allah, in His infinite wisdom, described in perfect detail the development of the embryo in the womb.

📖 “And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.” — Surah Al-Mu’minoon 23:12-14

Human Created in Mother’s Womb- Best of Creation

💬 The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Verily the creation of each one of you is brought together in his mother’s womb for forty days in the form of a drop (nutfah), then he becomes a clot (‘alaqah) for a similar period, then a lump of flesh (mudghah) for a similar period…” — [Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim]

This is a sign for those who reflect. It affirms both the greatness of our origin and the greatness of the Creator — Allah ﷻ, who fashions us in the best form.

Let us reflect on our humble beginning and renew our gratitude to Allah, the One who gives life and shapes us in the wombs of our mothers according to His will.

“He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, in three veils of darkness.” — Sura/ Chapter Az-Zumar 39:6

Creation of Adam (Alayhis Salam)

Allah Almighty says: {O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single  person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both  He created many men and women; and fear Allah through Whom you demand (your mutual  rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allah is Ever an All  Watcher over you}. (An-Nisa’, 1)

Abu Musa al-Ashari reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah Almighty created Adam from a handful which He took from the earth, so the children of Adam come in accordance with the earth. Some come with red skin, white skin, or black skin, and whatever is in between: smooth and rough, bad and good.” Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2955 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Tirmidhi

عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى خَلَقَ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْضَةٍ قَبَضَهَا مِنْ جَمِيعِ الْأَرْضِ فَجَاءَ بَنُو آدَمَ عَلَى قَدْرِ الْأَرْضِ فَجَاءَ مِنْهُمْ الْأَحْمَرُ وَالْأَبْيَضُ وَالْأَسْوَدُ وَبَيْنَ ذَلِكَ وَالسَّهْلُ وَالْحَزْنُ وَالْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ

How did the children of Adam reproduce?

Adam and Eve would marry from different pregnancies; they always had twins (a boy and a girl)- in that time they were not allowed to marry from same pregnancy(the twin) – but from a different pregnancy;

Al-Suddi reports that a number of the Prophet’s (s) companions said: كَانَ لَا يُولَدُ لِآدَمَ مَوْلُودٌ إِلَّا وُلِدَ مَعَهُ جَارِيَةٌ فَكَانَ يُزَوِّجُ غُلَامَ هَذَا الْبَطْنِ جَارِيَةَ هَذَا الْبَطْنِ الْآخَرِ وَيُزَوِّجُ جَارِيَةَ هَذَا الْبَطْنِ غُلَامَ هَذَا الْبَطْنِ الْآخَرِ

Adam would not beget a boy but that he was accompanied by a twin girl. He would marry the boy from this pregnancy with the girl from another pregnancy, and he would marry the girl from this pregnancy with the boy from another pregnancy. Source: Tafsīr al-Ṭabarī 33:72

Other Narrations:

Imam Abu Ja’ far mentioned in his Tarikh “History” on the authority of some people who had  said:  Eve gave birth to forty children through twenty births. 

Ibn Ishaq viewed the same and he mentioned their names in detail.  However, nothing is sure of their names or numbers. Only Allah knows best and no one else can know their exact number!  Others said: there were one hundred and twenty births, in each one a male and a female were born. 

The first among them were Cain and his sister Qalimah, and the last ones were `Abdul Mughith  and his sister Ummul Mughith. Then, humans increased in number and spread into the earth.
